Palm Springs Modernism Week 2014

Palm Springs Modernism Week is a celebration of mid-century modern design, architecture and culture, and features more than 100 events including home tours, films, lectures, fashion, and swank receptions at locations rarely-seen by the public is set for Feb. 13-23.

Home to one of the largest concentrations of mid-century modern architecture in the country, thousands of design buffs and architecture fans will be heading to Palm Springs, California for Palm Springs Modernism Week. Events will be held including architecture tours, films and lectures, art exhibitions, swanky parties and a new interior design tour of mid-century modern homes.

Palm Springs Modernism Week’s one-of-a-kind February “festival” features more than 100 events during an 11-day period, including: tours of architecturally-significant homes and neighborhoods; a popular lecture and film series with world class speakers; Premier Double Decker Architectural Bus Tours; the Modernism Show and Sale; nightly parties with live music; walking and biking tours; a Prefab Showcase and Modern Living Expo; tours of the Annenberg Historic Estate at Sunnylands.

During the February 2014 event, the collaborative partnership will launch a new series of nighttime events introduced as “Modernism Week After Dark” with an exclusive, retro-inspired “Modern Mambo” party set to kick-off the festivities Feb. 13.

Palm Springs Modernism Week operates as a non-profit, tax-exempt, charitable organization, providing scholarships to students pursuing college educations in the fields of architecture and design. The group also awards grants to local and state preservation organizations for their efforts to preserve modernist architecture throughout the state of California.
