WHY HOME STAGING MATTERS

 

 

In a recent survey conducted by the National Association of Realtors, Profile of Home Staging. Home Staging benefits both Home Seller and Home Buyer.

 

HEAR IT FROM THE SOURCE – THE BUYER AGENT

58% of Buyer agents said a staged home had a positive effect on their client’s view of the home.

81% of Buyer Agents said a staged home made it easier for potential buyers to visualize the home as their future home.

14% of Buyer Agents said their homebuyers increased their offer 6% – 10% compared to other similar homes on the market that were not staged.

HEAR IT FROM THE SOURCE – THE SELLER AGENT

23% of Seller’s Agents said they staged all of their Seller’s homes prior to listing the home for sale. Of those, 24% of those seller agents said they used an outside staging source.

A small group of Seller Agents, 22%, said they staged their listings themselves.

27% of Seller Agents said their staged listings sold faster than similar homes in the neighborhood that had not been staged.

44% of Seller Agents cited offers they received on their staged listings were coming in anywhere from 1% -20% higher, as compared to similar homes not staged. ZERO percent said staging hurt the value of offers they had received.

In the survey, the Living Room was the most important room, followed by the Primary Suite, then Kitchen.

When we’re talking about why home staging matters, we know presentation is first and foremost for a home seller when they want to capture top dollar for their home. After preparing our home seller properties for the market, the most common feedback I receive, “The house looks so great, why are we moving?!”

The secret to good staging is editing. Editing both homeowner furnishings AND the staging.  Less is more really holds true when we talk about why home staging matters.
