Modernism Week 2024 is an 11 day event with over 300 events including the Palm Springs Modernism Show. Tour iconic homes in more than 30 neighborhoods and don’t miss the popular Signature Home Tour on both weekends
Events this year during Modernism Week 2024 feature architectural walking, biking and double-decker bus tours, tours of the historic Annenberg Estate at Sunnylands, a classic car show, garden tours, nightly parties, and a special series of compelling and informative talks. All events are open to the public.
PALM SPRINGS MODERNISM SHOW
The Palm Springs Modernism Show will showcase the best of both the 20th and 21st century design. Fine art, and vintage furniture reflecting all design movements of the 20th century emphasizing mid-century modern.
THE SHAG HOUSE
Poolside at The Shag House in Trina Turk Style – Guests will enjoy touring The Shag House during the event. This fully immersive experience will make visitors feel like they have climbed into a life-size Shag painting. Shag has drawn upon his architectural studies and the aesthetic of his artwork to reimagine this classic 1958 home, originally designed by Desert Modern architects Palmer & Krisel for the Alexander Construction Company.

An often forgotten fact is the influence that Japanese design and architecture had on Modernism, a perfect example is the
1957 Patten and Wild home on Willow St in Palm Desert.

SUNNYLANDS HISTORIC HOME TOUR
Sunnylands Historic House Tour – Visitors on the Historic House Tour are taken on electric shuttles from Sunnylands Center & Gardens to the former winter home of Ambassadors Walter and Leonore Annenberg. A midcentury masterpiece with Mayan influences, the 25,000-square-foot residence was completed in 1966. Famed architect A. Quincy Jones designed the home, which interior designers William Haines and Ted Graber decorated in the Hollywood Regency style. Guides on the 90-minute tour also inform guests about the rare paintings, sculptures and other works of art on display in the home, as well as the world-famous 20th-century entertainers and politicians who visited the estate.
