Kennel Club of Palm Springs is very proud of our annual AKC Licensed All Bred Dog Shows, Obedience and Rally Trials held the first weekend in January at the Empire Polo Grounds in Indio. This prestigious show is considered the opening event of the dog show year on the west coast.
Kennel Club of Palm Springs Dog Shows have been listed among the five largest shows in the country by AKC for quite a number of years, most of those as the largest. There are now several group shows, plus sixteen or more breed specialties during the two days preceding our all-breed shows, resulting in majors galore.
The AKC has again selected the Palm Springs Dog Show Obedience Trials as the only trials in the state of California to qualify for the National Obedience Invitational (N.O.I.)
The Palm Springs dog show was first organized in 1978 by Robert and Lois Waters, Margaret and Fred Young and Major and Beatrice Godsol to educate members and the general public about purebred dogs; to conduct purebred dog activities and to promote sportsman-like competition at these events.
