Palm Springs will have more than 80 airplanes taxi down the streets for a “Parade of Planes” starting from the Palm Springs International Airport to the Palm Springs Convention Center.
The aircraft will be on display outside and inside the venue for the 2012 Aircraft Owners and Pilots Association (AOPA) Aviation Summit, one of the industry’s largest aviation tradeshow and conventions, scheduled for October 11-13, 2012 at Palm Springs Convention Center.
“AOPA is the largest convention hosted in Palm Springs and we are honored to host the 12,000-plus attendees over the next couple of days,” said James Canfield, Executive Director of the Palm Springs Convention Center. “It’s a city-wide event generating nearly 6,000 room nights at our new and renovated hotel properties.
The Parade of Planes starts at 10 a.m. on October 10, 2012; planes will parade back to the airport starting at 3:00 p.m. on October 13.
Thousands of pilots and aviation enthusiasts will attend the Aircraft Owners and Pilots Association (AOPA) Aviation Summit, a three-day event offering informative seminars, interactive exhibits, a large marketplace featuring the latest gadgets and technologies and opportunities to meet and hear from aviation leaders.
A one-mile route on streets between Palm Springs International Airport and the Palm Springs Convention Center.
From Airport: West on Alejo to South on Avenida Caballeros, then surrounding Convention Center on Avenida Caballeros, Amado, and Alvarado.
To Airport: Beginning at approximately 3:00 p.m., the aircraft will proceed East on Amado Road to Sunrise Way, then turn left on Sunrise and proceed north to Alejo Road, then turn right on Alejo Road to the airport.
