Celebrate the Art of the Short Film; Starting the 21st year, the Palm Springs ShortFest is renowned worldwide for the extraordinary community of filmmakers it attracts and the quality and scope of the programming.
Amid the magnificent setting of Palm Springs, enjoy the best selection of short films from over 50 countries. It’s the largest event of it’s kind in the country. The Palm Springs ShortFest goes digital for the fifth annual edition of SHORTFEST ONLINE, a special selection of great short films in different genres and formats to brighten up your web-based world. This entertaining sampling of shorts includes live action, documentary and animated films, and the package will be up online through the end of August ’15.
“The overall quality of the films submitted to us this year was staggering, both in terms of sophisticated filmmaking technique and the diversity of the subject matter and storytelling styles,” said Festival Director Darryl Macdonald.
“The difficult part for us was narrowing the 3,500 submissions down to just 330 titles for the final Festival line-up, given the wealth of exceptional work we watched.
It’s a testament to the benefits of contemporary film schools and increased access to low cost technological tools that so many emerging filmmakers with a gift for storytelling are now able to parlay those gifts into accomplished, entertaining short films.
Each film in the package is eligible to win the ShortFest Online Audience Award, which can be voted on by clicking here until June 20th (8pm PST). The winner of the award will be announced at our Closing Night Awards Ceremony, June 21st at the Camelot Theaters.
