The Living Desert is excited to announce that camel rides will return for another season.
While camels are on exhibit at The Living Desert throughout the year, three additional camels join the pack as one of the zoo’s biggest attractions. These nomadic, legendary animals have a characteristic rocking gait (walk) unlike any other animal.
“We look for opportunities that allow for guest interaction with our animals. Camel rides are one of those occasions,” said Allen Monroe, President & CEO of The Living Desert. “The money raised from this enhanced zoo experience supports our education and conservation efforts.”
Camel rides are offered daily to the public from 9:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. through April. Participants must be at least three years old to ride. The cost is $5 per person. Proceeds from the program go towards The Living Desert’s mission of desert conservation through preservation, education and appreciation.
This popular Palm Desert area attraction is a real people-pleaser. The zoo is a fun vacation thing to do to connect with the natural beauty of the desert outdoors. It’s family-friendly and perfect for kids of all ages – and adults too.
Desert animals large and small including camels, giraffes, zebras, sand cats, foxes, hummingbirds, butterflies – you’ll find it all here at the Palm Desert Zoo. The Zoo and Botanical Gardens are located about 20 minutes east of downtown Palm Springs in Palm Desert, California.
The Living Desert is open daily from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. For more information, visit www.LivingDesert.org or call (760) 346-5694.
