One of the largest and most festive cycling charity events of its kind in America. More than 10,000 cyclists from 46 states and 4 countries come to the Desert to ride for a cause. Since 1998 the Tour de Palm Springs has distributed nearly $4,000,000 to over 150 local nonprofit organizations.
The first event was in 1998 with 400 cyclists and raised $20,000. The next year, in 1999 the Tour de Palm Springs was born with more than 1,000 riders and from that first day, the event has grown into what it is today. The list of charity organizations the Tour de Palm Springs donates proceeds to is lengthy
There are 8 different routes that range from a 1 mile walk in downtown Palm Springs to a 102 mile cycle ride that traverses through the valley from Desert Hot Springs to Vista Santa Rosa.
